Doing the same job day after day, in the same drab office, with the same drab people, is getting out for Jon Dunn. In the novel 26 Miles to the Moon by Andrew Males, a random email contains the pathway to a whole new life for Jon.
The premise behind the mysterious email is that a billionaire wants to send a rocket to the moon, for the first time in many years. The only way to get a seat on that rocket is to win a truly interesting competition. The type of things that Jon has to endure in order to win a spot on the rocket are seriously funny, undoubtably embarrassing and take Jon way out of his comfort zone. He doesn’t give up though, and unless the whole plan gets disrupted e may be on his way to the job that could take him out of this world.
The book was so entertaining, it honestly makes you think about those rare changes in life that you may have, which could change your entire world. How you should take them, and not settle for sitting at a desk job just because it’s “conventional”. This story also teaches us that we should always root for the under dog, especially when we feel like we ARE the under dog. We can do more than we think!
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. I am lucky that I got the chance to read this book. it’s always refreshing to read a book from a new author, because you get to watch their dreams come true in real time.
