If You Wrong Us by Dawn Klehr is a YA thriller book, that I received from Flux publishing, in exchange for an honest review. This book was something that I hadn’t really read in the YA genre before. Two people, Becca and Johnny, start dating after they both lose a loved one in the same car accident. Becca loses her twin sister, and Johnny loses his mom. It seems that the person responsible for the car accident may be closer to them than they first think, and now they want to get back at the killer. They have their plan all set, on how they are going to get the killer back, and the whole book is a countdown until the event actually happens. It’s heart racing and incredibly intriguing.
At first, I felt like this was a book about a boyfriend and a girlfriend seeking revenge on the person they felt killed their family members, but it’s more than that, actually it’s not that at all. It’s a twisted world of deceit, lies, and manipulation. When you think you know what’s going to happen next, you better think again. For being a short book, this really had me wrapped up in the world of Johnny and Becca.
This is a multiple point of view book, and there are parts in the book where you aren’t quite sure whose talking. Is it the killer? Is it Becca, or Johnny? Is it someone else entirely? You won’t know until the very last pages, and you will be surprised and extremely freaked out at who has actually been speaking the entire time. The hints will keep you flipping pages until the stunning reveal, I could not put this book down, and I don’t think you will be able to either.
I really liked the fact that this book had you thinking it was going one way, and all of sudden it veered into another. Once you think you can trust one person, you better think again, because that person might be a little bit crazy. Uhh, there are no words to explain how good this book was, and how much it controlled my life until I finished it. This book gets 5 out of 5 stars for me, I think I want to read another Dawn Klehr book now.
