The Girlfriend Request

If you are in need of a funny, sweet and contemporary YA novel, this charming book is right where it’s at. The Girlfriend Request by Jodie Andrefski is starting the year off right. This book was so sweet, and so fast paced and fun to read that it flew by for me. I think I read it in only a couple of hours. I just couldn’t stop. I loved Eli and Emma’s chemistry, and I had to learn more about their story.

In the beginning, Emma creates a fake Facebook profile to try and get closer to Eli, even though he is her best friend in real life. She feels like Eli will never see her as anything but the girl next door, the best friend and the kid he used to play outside with. So, she wanted to see if he would fall in love with the real her, even though there would be fake pictures attached to the account.

Eli, on the other hand, has become increasingly confused about Emma’s behavior, first she doesn’t take care of his dog when he asked her too, and then she starts keeping things from him. He sees her with another guy, which brings out more emotions than he thought it would. Also, he’s pretty sure she’s the one that sent him a friend request from a fake profile on Facebook.

Eli and Emma both have feelings for each other, but will the finally get over the whole best friend act, and will Eli finally accept Emma’s girlfriend request? If you want to know what happens in this cute romantic comedy, you need to read this book. Though I don’t usually reach for YA contemporary novels, I thought this was super cute and fun to read. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
