I am often times skeptical of books such as this one, it claims that you can lose 20 pounds and reverse the aging process while also changing your life. The Well Path by Jamé Hesket, M.D. is a book that tells you more than the fact that you CAN do something, it also tells you how your body scientifically works so that you understand why your body does the things that it does, and by doing so, you can understand how to lose weight and create better balance with in your body and life.

This book is a week by week pathway to getting thinner, feeling better, and reversing the signs of aging. First the book goes into detail about how our bodies work, why our metabolism may slow down, how our hormones can change our bodies. Then the book tells us how our bodies signal hunger, how to use that to our advantage and how to eat the right foods to create a good “gut”.

Once you have the cornerstone for that, it takes us into a week by week set up of what to do and what to eat to feel better. The thing with this book is that it doesn’t give you a strict diet to adhere to, instead it gives you a very simple goal for the week. Week ones goal is to drink 8 ounces of warm water with lemon, get more sleep and turn off television an hour before bed, seems easy right? It’s a wonderful idea, and I am going to adopt this for the 8 week period ( I haven’t had the book that long yet), and see what my progress is after the 8 weeks. I don’t honestly plan on setting a goal weight or anything I just want to feel better and have more energy.

I like this book because it’s telling me basically who what when where and why about my body. It doesn’t leave much to question, and it seems like an easy path to take part in. It’s not a diet, it’s just a road to a simpler, more balanced life style. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. I love that there are places to write in it, and it’s not overbearing.

Along the way your body will get rid of what it doesn’t need…..like fat, or conservation of energy. It will FLOW!

  2. I love the idea of just changing a few *small* things at a time. E.g. I could handle increasing my water intake and going to bed earlier. Just starting with some things you *can* be successful in makes the road seem so much less daunting!
