Slip of the Tongue

Whoa. Move over Fifty Shades of Grey there is a new steamy, sexy read in town. Slip of the Tongue by Jessica Hawkins puts any dirty little book I’ve read to shame. This one is definitely a story that you are going to need ice for after you get done reading it! I am impressed with the writing, the detail and the story line with this little gem that I picked up on Netgalley. By the way, if you are a younger reader-you may want to skip this book ;).

Sadie is a married woman who lives in an apartment in New York, she’s fairly happy with her life, expect for the fact that it seems her husband has been getting more and more distant as the months go on. He seems to not want to enjoy the “couple” things that they used to do, spending time together, eating dinner together, and going to bed together. When Sadie runs into the new neighbor, she starts to get feelings for him. He’s sexy, put together, and most of all he wants her as well.

While trying to juggle her marriage, Sadie gets closer and closer to the neighbor Finn. They start to eat dinner together, since Sadie’s husband isn’t around. Then one night the two end up having sex, and it starts a tumultuous affair that neither of them can deny. Sadie figures her and her husband Nathan are probably going to get divorced anyway, so it really shouldn’t matter. Nathan is probably cheating on her as well. Then she finds out the real reason that Nathan has been staying clear of her, and it’s not at all what she expects.

This story was really crazy because at first I felt so bad for Sadie, then by the end of the book I started to dislike her. My perspective changed, and then my feelings toward her changed. This was all master work of the writer, Jessica Hawkins. I thought it was brilliant. Though, I sort of feel like I’m not all that happy with the ending of the book, it was a stellar read. I can’t wait to see what else this author has to offer. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. It was so fun and scandalous to read.
