A psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from the very first page. Give it Back by Danielle Esplin, is the type of story that I’ve been waiting to read for a very long time. It gripped me from the start, and it kept me on a thrill ride to the very end.
The story starts out with Ella, who gets a call from her sister who begs her to come to her bedside. Ella’s sister Lorraine is very ill, and only has a short while to live. Ella does what her sister wants, as she feels that it may be the only time she get to really see her again, and it may be her time to say goodbye.
Lorraine ends up in the hospital before Ella arrives, and the circumstances surrounding her accident are still confusing to her. Ella can’t figure out what’s going on, and Lorraine can’t keep the story straight.
Then comes Lexy, the au pair who stays with Lorraine to take care of her as well as her infant son. There is just an air about her that just seems creepy, and from the very beginning I was looking at her with side eyes. She wants something, but it’s hard to figure out until the story comes together.
This is one of those books where you think you know what’s going to happen, but the story takes a complete turn and heads down a direction that you weren’t even thinking about. I absolutely love that! I don’t want to give too much of the story away, because if you go in blind, it’s so much better, just know that it is definitely worth the rush! You get to see everyones different point of view in this book, and you also get some really interesting characters that are more than what they seem. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars, I thought it was a wonderful read. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
