Alight

Alight-comps-19

In the sequel to the YA sci-fi book Alive comes another heart racing thrill ride called Alight by Scott Sigler. After M. and her fellow “hostages” find themselves on a ship headed for an unknown planet, they have to decide what their next plan of action is going to be. They have been told that they are headed to a place that is like Eden, no one has set foot on this planet, and it is going to be a wonderful new place to call home.

Little do M and her comrades know, this planet is in way more peril than they could have ever imagined. There is proof that this planet has been inhabited before them, and there are people that are still living among the forests and rivers that seem to want them to get off their planet.

Not only do they have outside forces to worry about, but it seems one of their own is leading the team to implode from the inside out. They find that being explorers and settlers isn’t all that, and they don’t have any way out of this hell that they’ve been thrust into.

Have you ever read the book The 100, or seen the TV show? If you have, it’s short of almost exactly like this, until you get to the twist-which will mess you up. I’m not going to give it away as usual-because there are others who haven’t read this book, but up until that point I was on the edge about whether or not I liked this book. In the end, I thought it was very good. Although I did like the first book better, I am definitely sticking around for the conclusion of this trilogy. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars, I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
