The cover of this book is phenomenal. How creative! This cover gives you an idea of what you can expect from Bloodwalker by L.X. Cain, and it’s super creepy. This book is just like those old time horror novels that you read late at night to give yourself goosebumps, I adored this book and although the subject matter is a little more mature than what I read as a kid, it still gave me this nostalgic feeling that I can’t explain.
Zorka Circus is a fun filled, laughter inducing good time during the day, but at night there is something sinister going on. When the tents are packed up and the animals put away, there always seems to be something missing from the town that the circus was in that day, and that something missing is children. It seems that there is a killer among the circus performers, someone who wants to hurt little kids and cause anguish in the towns that earlier was laughing at the clowns and oohing and aahing at the trapeze artists.
The strongman of the circus, Rurik is the number one suspect. Everyone feels like he’s just a little off. Being hit by lightning twice may do that to a person. He’s also the number one person looking to find who kidnapped and killed all these children. In come the Bloodwalkers, a group of gravediggers who stick to themselves. Once one of the Bloodwalkers finds a dead body hidden with in the circus, all hell breaks loose.
There is a lot going on in this novel, but at the same time it all fits together and makes sense. This is unlike anything I have ever read before, and I really enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun trying to decide who the killer was, but also had a lot of fun learning about Bloodwalkers and watching them be as creepy and intriguing as they could. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. I received this from the author in exchange for an honest review.
