Look no further if you are in the mood for the perfect Christmas story, that will put you right into the holiday spirit. A Shoe Addict’s Christmas by Beth Harbison is a short read, but it is the perfect amount of magic that we all want around this time of year.
Noelle (fitting right?) isn’t the type of person that really cares about the holidays, she’s mostly in it for the work, and when she gets trapped inside the department store she works at on Christmas Eve, at first she’s frustrated but figures it’s the best time to get work done. Then a woman named Charlie appears and tells Noelle that she is her guardian angel, to which Noelle scoffs and considers allowing the woman to shop through the clothes even though the store is closed.
Charlie explains that she wants to help Noelle get over her troubles, and Noelle is tempted by this statement. As the two sift through the mountain of shoes that Charlie knocked over, they are whisked back in time to different parts of Noelle’s life that influenced Noelle and her emotions to that Christmas Eve night.
Very reminiscent of A Christmas Carol, this novella was the perfect little gem to read when the snow is falling, the fire is roaring, and the gifts are all wrapped and ready to be opened. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars, and you should definitely check it to too. I received this book from Netgalley.
