We all know that person who had planned their life down to the last detail, and in life gets in the way, that’s Cass. She knows what school she wants to go to, and what she wants to major in. What she doesn’t know is that she is about to meet a boy who will have her questioning everything she thought she knew about life and love. When Life Gets in the Way by Ines Vieira is a sweet contemporary romance that has many real components.

Isaac has no clue what he wants to do with his life, he’s sort of just winging it and hoping for the best. The only thing he really wants is to get away from his family. He’s not looking for love when he meets Cass, but soon he starts to spill his life to her, and he can’t get enough of her. Cass is sort of wishy washy about if she wants to be with him, so he backs off for a little while, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t still lust after her.

This book gives us dual perspective from Cass and Isaac, we see how Cass’s family life has started to break down, and her poor mother suffering from some type of depression made me want to hug her, but I felt like Cass’s side of the story was super long winded and kind of boring, especially in the beginning. But once she went off to school and met Isaac it was more entertaining, but then again the ending came too quick.

Though this story had many issues that we all deal with in real life, and a sweet love story, I sort of felt like I had read it before. There was nothing new or dynamic that made me really want to know more about these characters. This book is perfect for looking for a sweet love story to enjoy with a cup of coffee. The diversity in the book creates a perfect story as well, just wish there were more components that were different than other love stories I have read before. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars, thank you to the author for sending this story my way.
