Driving on the Left

In this gorgeously written “sequel” to Jeep Tour, Driving on the Left by Gail Ward Olmsted is a look at the world of Jackie’s daughter’s love life, and it’s as cute as the first novel. Becca accompanies her mother into the hills of Ireland, where she is hoping to find love, and not spill the secret that’s been keeping her up all night.

Of course, Jackie has seen her taste of delicious looking tour guides, when she found one to love of her own in the first book, but now it’s her daughters turn. When the girls take a trip to Ireland, Becca soon falls for Sean, who is the duos tour guide, deja vu anyone? Though the books are set in different decades, they still both capture the feeling of love at first sight, new romances, and wonderful scenery that you can feel.

It was a lot of fun to read the book through Jackie’s daughters eyes, and to also see it through Jackie’s. I found Jackie to be quite hilarious and snarky in the first book, and she sure didn’t lose any of her sense of self in this one! Watching Becca discover herself, and find love, was incredible as well. She is definitely her mothers daughter. You can tell that the author created very in depth and real characters for these books, I wonder if she got inspiration from her own life?

Though the substance wasn’t there in this book, as much as it was in the first, it was still a good, relaxing, read. I enjoy a nice love story once in a while, and that’s exactly what I got with this one! If you enjoyed Jeep Tour, then you will find this book purely magical. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars, thank you to the author for sending me her books!
