Hunters Moon

Man oh man, this was a shockingly incredible book. I was not expecting to escape into the world of Hunters Moon by Lynda Renham as quickly and thoroughly as I did. This is one of those books that just swallows you up and leaves you breathless once it spits you back out.

Flora and Adam McIntosh finally found their dream home, or so they think. Hunters Moon is a paradise, it’s gorgeous, it’s got its own man-made lake in the backyard, and of course, it has enough room for the kids that they are going to have one day. After suffering a miscarriage, Flora is ready to move on and move into this gorgeous home, but then she realizes that the house may be hiding some secrets, something deadly.

Adam is the new Home Secretary, in hopes of replacing another long-term government job, he’s all too excited that they found this gorgeous home in Penlyn, a quiet village that seems to be just the right place for Flora to rest. As he weaves his career in and out of town, Flora is home alone most nights, that’s when she starts to smell roses, and have vivid nightmares that something wicked happened in the very house she was expecting to bring her babies home to.

Flora, not one to sit and ponder, decides that she is going to get down to the bottom of what really happened at Hunters Moon, but when she discovers more than she bargained for, she may be in serious danger, especially when she realizes that the citizens of Penlyn aren’t as nice as they seem.

This is one of the few books that has surprised me in the end, which of course makes me love it even more. Flora’s character was increasingly interesting because she seems unreliable, but then you start to believe her, and then feel she may be going crazy,  all in just a few short chapters. I really enjoyed this book, the story was flawless, and the twists it had were perfect! I give this book 5 out of 5 stars, a winner right here.
