Before She Knew Him

Peter Swanson did it you guys, he created a thriller that I didn’t see coming! Before She Knew Him is the creepy story of Hen and her husband Lloyd, who move into a new neighborhood. They soon get invited to their neighbors home. Mira and Matthew seem like a nice couple, they are young, childless like Hen and her husband, and seem to keep to their busy schedules.

During their dinner date, Matthew and Mira show the new couple around their home, they step into Matthew’s office, and Hen immediately sees something strange that she wasn’t expecting. A fencing trophy that belonged to a boy who’d been murdered, one she remembered from her old neighborhood. Why would Matthew have this trophy? Could there be more to this seemingly normal couple than Hen first thought?

Hen tells her husband how she feels about the trophy, but because of her issues with mental illness, namely Bipolar disorder, he is quick to dismiss her claims. Hen’s fears become a reality when she witnesses something she shouldn’t have seen, but will anyone believe her?

I’ve tried picking up Peter Swanson books before, and nothing ever caught my attention until this one. I was hooked from the start, I know I say that a lot, but when I do, I mean it. Hen’s character is great because she’s unreliable to everyone else in the story, but for the reader, we know what’s up. That is until the end, when you find out the real reason things are going so crazy around this new neighborhood. I loved this book, I give it 5 out of 5 stars, perfect in every way!

  1. I read this one, too and it was SO GOOD! I had no idea what was going on in the best possible way. Thanks for being on the tour!
